The Principality of Zarijak
Established September 25th, 2024
On September 25th 2024, the Principality of Zarijak has officially been founded on the territories in private ownership of the Royal Family scattered across the Republic of Croatia.
The Principality of Zarijak is a self-proclaimed absolute matriarchal hereditary elective secular monarchy (in further text referred to as "the Principality") ruled by the Sovereign who holds the title of Princess and Head of State (in further text referred to as "the Sovereign")
The Principality's territory consists of lands in direct ownership of the Royal Family. Territory can thus change if new lands are bought or if a direct owner of the land wants to withdraw his/her territory from the Principality.
The capital city/territory is "Hanor" located at Vežica neighbourhood in the city of Rijeka. Other cities/territories are: "Loje's place" located at Žrnovo on the island of Korčula, "Villa Degenija" in Jablanac and "Luvano's place" located in Punat on the island of Krk.
The Principality does not in any way proclaim independence from the Republic of Croatia. The Principality and its citizens will follow all applicable laws and obligations set by Croatia and will not limit any freedoms for anyone. The Principality and Croatia will co-exist while Croatia will retain full sovereignty over all Principality's territories as defined in the Constitution of the Republic of Croatia. Citizens of the Principality will remain Croatian (or any other country's) citizens. Being a citizen of the Principality is completely voluntary and can be terminated by both sides at any time.
The Principality will not perform any illegal financial transactions outside Croatian financial system, will not form a political entity or do any action which is not in line with Croatian law.
The Principality promotes love, peace, understanding, positive energy and uniqueness in people.
One can become a member of the Royal Family by birth or by decision of the Sovereign. All members of the Royal Family are automatically citizens of the Principality. A person can become a citizen of the Principality by sleeping for at least minimum number of nights depending on a territory (Villa Degenija and Loje's place – 7 nights; Hanor – 3 nights; Luvano's place – 5 nights). Both are voluntary and a person can abolish any role connected to the Principality at any time.
Members of the Royal Family will hold the following titles: Princess, Prince, Grand Duke/Duchess, Duke/Duchess and Count/Countess. Non-Royal family members can hold the titles of Knight or Dame. All titles are given or taken at sole discretion of the Sovereign and are not hereditary.
The female Sovereign rules until death or abdication. Members of the Royal Family (with titles of Princess, Prince and Grand Duke/Duchess) can elect a new Sovereign and the decision has to be unanimous. Female members of the Royal Family with a title "Princess" are preferred. If no female members want to take the role or are under 25 years old, a Prince Regent can temporarily rule as Head of State until a female member comes of age or accepts the role. Eligible female members of the Royal Family with a title "Princess" can at any time during Prince Regent's temporary rule initiate the vote and, if there is a unanimous decision, become the Sovereign. The current Head of State and her/his partner do not participate in the vote when a new Sovereign is being elected. In exceptional case, if a unanimous vote cannot be achieved, co-principality with 2 Sovereigns can be temporarily formed but a vote for a single Sovereign has to take place annually on Princess Day (article 16) to try to resolve the issue.
Ruling Princess/Head of State and Prince Consort are official titles of the Sovereign and her partner. Titles of Princess and Prince can only be given to Royal Family members who have blood relations to current Sovereign or her partner and can at some time in the future hold the title of Sovereign or Head of State. The title of Grand Duke/Duchess can only be hold by members who are owners of a land/territory incorporated in The Principality. The title of Duke/Duchess can be given to a person who has close family ties (father, mother, son, daughter, sister, brother, husband, wife) or are close friends of the Royal family. The title of Count/Countess can be given to anyone. All titles are given at sole discretion of the Sovereign.
Members of the Royal Family can propose changes to the constitution or challenge the decisions of the Sovereign, but the Sovereign has the final decision.
The official languages of the Principality are English and Croatian and the official currencies are the Euro (EMU) and the Zarijak kuna (ZKN) with a fixed exchange rate of 1 EUR = 7,5 Zarijak kuna (ZKN).
The Principality will issue souvenir passports, passport stamps, coins, jewellery and other items which will have no validity outside its territories.
The flag is a green-yellow banner equally diagonally divided with a shield of the royal family in the centre. The flag is always in 2:3 ratio (2: hight, 3: width) and is printed in dimensions 0,8m x 1,2m. The coat of arms contains a shield and a green-yellow mantle.
The Principality will celebrate two holidays: 20.5. – Princess day, 25.9. – Principality day
Enacted on the 25th day of September, 2024
